An Arizona Wedding at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa

Want to know one of the best parts of being a live wedding illustrator? All the cool places I get to visit! Travel is so important to me, and I feel so lucky that I get to travel doing the best job in the world! 

I was contacted by a couple in Scottsdale, Arizona, who wanted a live wedding illustrator for their October wedding at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa. I was so excited to work with them, but wasn’t sure I’d be able to. A close friend was planning her wedding for the same weekend. However, my friend’s wedding ended up being the day after my client’s, and I was able to make it to both! 

An Unforgettable Event at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa 

I am always so honored when a couple loves my illustrations enough to fly me to their event! This couple was so sweet, and I was happy to be a highlight of their special day. They hosted their wedding at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Plus, the couple included so many fun details! Instead of a traditional guestbook, they opted for an audio guest book in - get this - a custom phone booth! The ceremony took place on the lawn of one of the Omni Scottsdale Suites, which was then flipped into the reception space. 

The wedding was intimate, with only 50 guests, so I got a chance to interact with almost everyone! I attended the reception for four hours, and only needed to do 10 overtime sketches. The couple also ordered custom thank-you stickers to put on the back of the sketch’s envelopes. Live wedding sketches are one of the most unique and personal favors you can gift to your wedding guests, and I was so happy to contribute to this wedding.

I am so glad I got to work this wedding at the Omni Scottsdale! Because of my close friend’s wedding the day after, I left this wedding exactly at the contracted time and dashed right to the airport. I ended up in Massachusetts (where my friend’s wedding was) two hours before the ceremony started. I call that a win! 

Creating live wedding illustrations is my biggest joy, so not even the chaos of cross-country flights (or 100-degree weather in Arizona) could stop me.
