An Unforgettable Boston Public Library Wedding

A fashion illustration of two brides, one in a black suit and the other in a white gown, at a Boston Public Library wedding

When this couple reached out to me in April about my live illustration services for their wedding in July, I was so excited. I don’t always have availability on such short notice, but this worked out perfectly! I was thrilled to be involved in their Boston Public Library wedding. It was timeless, beautiful, and deeply personal.

Guest Illustrations at this Boston Public Library Wedding

These brides hired me for four hours of live sketching and ten overtime sketches. The moment cocktail hour began, I was greeting guests, snapping their photo, and beginning their sketches. I got to meet so many wonderful and interesting people. These guests seemed just as in awe of the Boston Public Library as I was!

The brides leaned into the clean, stone aesthetic of the library. Their decor was minimalistic with a black and white color palette, with stone signs directing guests. Not only is the architecture of the library jaw-dropping, but they have wedding service down to a science. Catered Affair, the in-house events team, ensures everything runs smoothly, on time, and that everyone (including vendors) has everything they need.

The brides themselves knew how to make a statement, as well! They both looked absolutely stunning. P wore a gorgeous Anne Barge gown with structure and volume and C complimented her perfectly with a beautifully tailored suit by Alexander McQueen and a gem studded broach in leu of a tie. As a fashion professional, I was obsessed. The guests pulled out all the stops as well, making this a truly fashion-forward event that made my designer heart sing!

A Personal Wedding Experience

The couple was committed to creating an unforgettable and personal event. One of my favorite parts was how they honored one of the bride’s Samoan heritage with traditional cultural dances during the reception. Even my live guest illustrations were a way of creating an immersive atmosphere filled with beauty and intention. Guests loved this small token of the brides’ appreciation, and I loved seeing the smiles on their faces as they received their illustration!
