How to Display Custom Art at Your Wedding and Reuse Wedding Decor at Home

As a live illustrator, being passionate about art is basically in the job description. I believe art makes our lives better in every way, and we should have it in every area of our lives. This is especially true for your wedding! Art adds layers of depth to your celebration. You can bond with your guests over personalized details and creative pieces. And the best part? You can reuse wedding decor once the night is over, bringing these sentimental pieces into your home to remind you of the best day ever.

Custom Artwork to Display at Your Wedding

Every wedding should have unique and personal elements. While you may not be able to customize every aspect of your venue, you can absolutely include custom artwork to display during your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception!

Some of my favorite pieces of custom art for weddings are welcome signs, signature drink art, and portraits of the couple or the venue. Seating charts, table numbers, alternative guest books, and, of course, live sketches, are other wonderful options! This blog has even more ideas for incorporating artwork into your wedding.

Are you looking for a more eco-friendly option? Digital art is still 100% art. Whether you’re looking to be more sustainable or have guests coming in from overseas with little room to pack art, digital portraits are a wonderful keepsake. Guests can have their portraits emailed to them to save on their personal computer or print at home! I can even mail them a paper version if that’s preferred.

How to Reuse Wedding Decor

However you chose to include custom artwork in your wedding, I guarantee there’s a beautiful way to repurpose it! Of course, you can always frame your artwork. Many couples choose to frame their sketches along with their vows, or some flowers pressed from their bouquet. You can turn your wedding day signage into keepsake pieces.

One of my favorite things is when couples use portraits, custom illustrations, or venue sketches in their thank-you cards. In fact, I’ve had couples use these pieces as custom chocolate cards that they give as gifts! You can even use a digital illustration as your profile photo and incorporate it into holiday cards.

Tablescapes, bouquets, embellished veils, and dresses are all pieces of art, too! You can spread your tablescape decor over your home, making it feel cozy and homey. Your bouquet can be preserved by pressing it into a frame or even making home items out of epoxy! Even custom veils or capes can be framed, and you can keep your dress on a mannequin, framed shadow box, or a specialty display box for preservation.
